It's safe to say I was unprepared for the walls and walls of cookbooks that greeted me on the 3rd floor. The library was as huge as the one you get as an EYB member! For a brief moment I was thinking I was choosing the perfect cookbook to give my aunt or mother-in-law. Within a moment, I was thrown into the chaos and confusion.

It's a challenge to pick an appropriate cookbook (if it's one that you don't already have and tested) This is the reason why I'm currently in the process of creating an app for rating cookbooks. These are the kinds of questions I'm trying to answer. What should we be aware of when choosing the latest cookbook? What will help us reach Barnes & Noble within 2 hours? What information will help us not spend the entirety of our lunch time surfing the web for recommendations?

Here are a few questions I believe could be helpful . They're like the ones I use in judging a cookbook for review, but not exactly the same

Are there any recipes that can be used?

Do I want to read this book over and over and again?

Do I have the ability to read it and learn from it as well as cook from it?

It will be enjoyable to use in the kitchen. What font is it and do you have photos? Is it a good gift idea?

How are the data organized?

Are the recipes really original or can I locate ones just like them on the Internet?

Is the author reliable all around?

The thing I'd like to be aware of is: Are these the same questions you ask? Do you have a different decision-making process? Despite the uncertainty of publishing, the cookbook market is in good shape.
